ROYALS fans across the nation will watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot today – and one Swindon couple have gone all out for the celebrations.

Husband and wife, Sid and Kathleen Dibble, of Shaftsbury Avenue, Park South, have dusted off the bunting, unravelled the Union flag and polished their statue of the Queen to decorate their house to mark the big day – and to give fellow royal fan Adam Culley something to look forward to. Adam, 26, who has autism, has been caught up in the excitement of the approaching nuptials.

Kathleen, 81, said: “We wanted to give Adam something he could count the days down to.

She said: “Since I was a child I have been brought up celebrating the Royals and it has stuck with me throughout my life.

“I am glad that it is not a traditional wedding and that they have moved with the times. They will make a beautiful couple and Harry will do his mum proud.

She added: “I will not be leaving my house until the end of the wedding and I will be celebrating with them from the comfort of my home.

Kathleen's prized possession is a statue of the Queen she received from her daughter for 80th birthday. Her collection also includes a Coronation tea cup and saucer and dozens of books about the Queen.

The couple have been married for 29 years and met in London before moving to Swindon. They remember celebrating royal events like the Queen’s Coronation with street parties.

Neighbours Dave Culley, Betty Spence and John Neilan joined in the celebration spirit, helping the couple drape flags from their windows and putting up bunting in their own gardens.

Sid, 83, said: “I go along with it, but I must admit when I was putting up the decorations I really started to feel patriotic and got into it.

“My wife is the epitome of being a royalist, she has publications and books of the Royals from all over time.

The couple’s gaily decorated house has already drawn attention from passing motorists who have been sounding their horns as they go past.

The couple will be celebrating the occasion watching the TV from start to finish, with teacakes and their favourite tipples of whiskey and a vodka and Coke.
