SWINDON bakers are being invited to get involved in making cakes for the National Air Ambulance Week.

Bake Off for Lift Off is kicking off from September 10 to 16 where individuals, groups, schools, colleges and businesses can all get involved in the cake-related fun by holding their own bake sales.

Kenresa Stratford, fundraising and events co-ordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We’re hoping that this year’s Air Ambulance Week will be bigger and better than ever as we Bake Off for Lift Off once again.

“We would like to encourage as many schools, colleges, businesses, groups and individuals as possible to take part and get their bake on.

“The fundraising options are limitless from holding bake sales, to bake offs and even getting involved in a custard pie fight there are a lot of fun ways to get involved and the funds raised will help us to continue saving lives.”

Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a charity and relies almost entirely on public donations to keep flying at a cost of £3.25 million a year, the equivalent of £8,904 per day.

Kenresa added: “We are delighted to receive the support of Haydens Bakery and would like to thank them for supporting Bake Off for Lift Off by donating cakes for bake sales during Air Ambulance Week.”

Zoe Daly, marketing manager at Haydens Bakery in Devizes, said: “Wiltshire Air Ambulance is crucial to Wiltshire and the surrounding area.”
