WATER search specialists joined regular fire crews in a missing person hunt in Swindon last night.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue was called shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday night to East Wichel lakes by police after reports of a suicidal person in the canal.
Firefighters from Swindon and Westlea fire stations helped with the search, together with the fire service’s technical rescue search team.
Police and paramedics were also at the incident off East Wichel Way. An area of the canal, off Kingshill Road, was also searched
Police traced the call to an address in Swindon and forced entry to find two males that had been drinking.
One male reportedly fell into the canal but was dragged to safety by his companion.
The pair did not sustain any serious injuries.
