WROUGHTON’S tarmac barbie could be seen waving for attention as contractors close in to repair her pothole home.

Dad Neville Daytona has spent the past months leaving dolls heads in the Mill Lane pothole in a bid to get it fixed. He now fears that interest from contractors is waning.

He said: “I’m thinking of sticking a white flag in the hand. Nothing has been done to improve the situation other than a cursory fill with tarmac.”

Highways England plans to repair it by the end of the month. Spokesman Stephen Pearson said “We have identified damage to the waterproof membrane of the bridge, which in turn has led to the surface damage."

“We are currently planning to repair the issue by the end of May, as soon as we have scheduled the work with the borough council.”

Swindon Borough Council said last month that the pothole kept on cropping up, despite efforts by their officers: “Our action men and women have repaired the pothole several times over the last few months but it keeps reappearing due to a problem with the waterproofing on the motorway bridge.”
