  • Blending traditional training with innovation, nurturing creativity and artistry, and with an equal focus on ballet and contemporary dance, the Rambert School’s ethos is reflected in a performance by final year students at Swindon Dance on Friday at 7.30pm.

The students will perform three newly commissioned works by guest choreographers Ashley Page, Wayne Parsons, and Rambert School alumnus, Theo Clinkard, as well as a selection of original student choreography. Tickets are £7-£11. To book, visit swindondance.org.uk.

  • Radio 4 favourite, BAFTA winner and regular on BBC’s This Week and Daily Politics, Hardeep Singh Kohli brings his brand new show Alternative, Fact to Swindon Arts Centre tonight, following its critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Hardeep has enjoyed a successful career in television broadcasting, radio and comedy, starring on Celebrity Masterchef and Question Time, and in 2009 performing the first ever live curry cooking comedy show, The Nearly Naked Chef, at the Edinburgh Fringe. Join Hardeep as he gives his unique and insightful take on the current political climate.

  • The vocal talent of legendary singer Roy Orbison is recreated on stage by Barry Steele in a show called The Roy Orbison Story: 30 Year Special, at the Wyvern Theatre tomorrow night.

Steele and his cast create a musical journey to recreate the career of Orbison, the American singer, song-writer and musician who died in 1988 and is famous for hits such as Only The Lonely. Tickets are £25.50. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

  • That’ll Be The Day, billed as the UK’s premier Rock’n’Roll production, brings its fantastic line-up of smash-hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s to the Wyvern Theatre tonight.

The show has its roots in the 1980s, when The Happy Days of Rock n Roll’ was launched by Bristol-based agent John Mills for the club and cabaret circuit. Performed live on stage, the current show also includes comic sketches. Tickets are £28. www.swindontheatres.co.uk

  • The Rising Aspirations Academy of Performing Arts will perform Madagascar: A Musical Adventure at Swindon Arts Centre on Saturday at 3pm and 7pm.

A treat for everyone who likes to move it, move it, the show is based on the Dreamworks animated motion picture and it follows the adventures of the animal friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the world of King Julien’s Madagascar.
