The sun shone on a beautiful evening that saw the crowd rocking on the opening night of the Forest Live festival at Westonbirt.

The Script had everyone gripped right from the start, playing a short video of people from across the world talking about their insecurities – then immediately after whipped the audience into a frenzy.

After three songs, singer Danny O’Donoghue praised the crowd for its ‘energy’, before playing ‘the song that put us where we are today’, the 2008 hit The Man Who Can’t Be Moved.

It was easy to see why the singer was a judge on the talent show The Voice – his stage presence and vocals were pitch-perfect.

The surroundings of the venue were breath-taking, the forest making it feel like an intimate gig.

Support act Tom Walker did a fine job in entertaining the crowd with songs from his new album but also a cover of Mike Posner’s I Took A Pill in Ibiza, had the crowd on their feet.

He finished in great style playing the smash hit, Leave A Light On which has over 50 million views online – setting The Script up perfectly for the rest of the night.

The audience made up of people of all ages from kids through to older fans. Everyone was up dancing and singing along.

Danny worked the crowd and had people mesmerised, the set list had songs from 2008 through to their latest album, including chart-toppers such as Nothing, If You Could See Me Now and Superheroes.

Towards the end of the show the band highlighted how without each other the world would be a worse place to live and got everyone to put their arms around each other and sway.

The entire night was a fun-filled spectacular from a showman who pays every attention to his fans while performing and has no fear.

An arm-waving rendition of Rain made for a fitting finale, and an opportunity for people to switch on the torch light on their phones to capture the moment. There was a fantastic atmosphere and is a night that will remain with me forever.

The ambience of the place was second to none and it was the perfect setting to celebrate my 25th birthday.
