THEY say that dogs are man's best friend. That, perhaps, should be extended to man's best employees as workplaces across the UK welcomed furry recruits for National Bring Your Dog To Work Day on Friday.

At Town Hall Arts in Trowbridge, manager Philippa Edwards brought her cockapoo dog, Widget, to work. Instantly, she was the centre of attention.

"People come in specifically to see Widget. Everyone is just cooing over her. It is great to have her with us in the workplace," said Philippa.

Staff at the Kip McGrath Centre  in Trowbridge, Mobility Works at Westbury and at TBT Marketing in Frome also joined in the fun.

Jill Hughes, of the Kip McGrath Centre, said: "Her name is Macey and she laps up attention from all of our students and helps put them at ease."

Vicky Rush at Mobility Works added: "Dexter has had fun this morning, office work, helping the engineer, meeting and greeting customers and delivery drivers! Advising on equipment! Then time for a little rest."

Kayleigh Jamieson, HR and Operations Advisor at TBT Marketing, said: "Our company has supported Bring Your Dog To Work Day.

"Due to having five furry friends in the office a bunch of our employees took to Cley Hill to enjoy the sunshine and a bit of exercise."
