A MAN was stabbed in central Swindon in the early hours of today.

The 22-year-old needed hospital treatment after being knifed in the arm.

Three police vehicles were called to Debenhams in the town centre to the scene at 5.20am after reports of a fight.

The victim is thought to have been involved in an altercation near Debenhams on the footpath between Fleming Way and the John Street car park.

He was taken to Great Western Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

The area was cordoned off for two hours while Wiltshire Police CID carried out investigation. Police are appealing for witnesses and asking anyone who was in the area at that time to call 101 or DS Aidran Bray at Gablecross Station.
