RODBOURNE Road has been cordoned off while several fire crews deal with the aftermath of a blaze at a kebab shop.
According to witnesses, crews from Swindon, Westlea and Stratton raced to Asmin Pizza and Kebab at 6.50pm this evening. in four fire engines, including one with a skylift.
The road was closed and cordoned off in both directions as onlookers and residents gathered to watch the firefighters at work.
Derico was one of them. He said: "I live just round the corner, I go here every two days or so.
"I've no idea what caused it, but I haven't seen any flames or smoke."
By 7.40pm, the fire was extinguished, the fire engine with the skylift left the scene and the eatery's staff were spotted sitting outside and calling someone - possibly their insurance company.
No casualties or injuries have been reported.
As of 8.15pm, the section of Rodbourne Road just after the Outlet Village roundabout was still cordoned off, causing a bit of a headache for cars and buses who had to make U-turns and find another way round.
