DEVELOPERS behind the “Snoasis” development say they want to bring it to the council planning committee by September.

SevenCapital, which is leading the £270 million snow dome bid for land near the Oasis leisure centre, wants to get the plans to the committee within the next two months.

Last week, the firm said companies had signed up to fill half of the massive 500,000 sq ft development. Hollywood Bowl will sign a lease to a 27,000 sq ft bowling alley and leisure complex and Empire Cinemas plan to take on a 14-screen cinema, which will include the largest 3D IMAX screen in Europe.

Coun Garry Perkins, cabinet member for the town centre, said the success in signing up so many tenants proved the project’’s “nay-sayers” wrong.

But there could be more hard work on the way.

SevenCapital said they still have 100,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space to fill, comprising 24 separate units.

The firm also said it has been conducting transport testing, responding to concerns from Swindon College about the impact on traffic around the North Star Avenue site.
