Members of The Guild of Wiltshire Artists have been brushing up on their art as their summer exhibition begins this weekend. There are always 40 current members of the Guild and a waiting list to ensure quality of art is maintained. Members have their art works on show at St Peter’s Church, High Street, Marlborough starting on Sunday, July 8 from 12.30pm to 3pm. The paintings stay on show all week until Sunday, July 14 from 10am to 4.30pm. The Guild was formed in 1985 by three professional artists: John Soar, James Trew and Frederick Cameron-Street, who wanted to gather a group of painters who would share their knowledge and boost each others talent. The monthly meetings are held in Hook Village Hall and are mini workshops, demonstrations by visiting artists or members and strictly painting evenings. Coming up are a number of workshops including: figure/portrait quick sketches, a collage challenge, and a demonstration by Graham Cox, known for his seascapes in pastel.
