SWINDON alt rock band The Harlers are about to release their new single and will give home town fans a sneaky peek when they headline The Shuffle tomorrow.

Bass guitarist Mitch Malone said that the band spent two days in the recording studio, following weeks of rehearsal.

“This gave us complete control in the studio,’’ he said. “All the instruments were recorded on day one, which gave us the freedom on day two to focus on the vocals. We have taken things to the next level on this single, the feel is natural but still has the alternative edge we are known for. We feel it shows our progression as a band in songwriting and performance.’’

The musician says that the song came about through a riff brought to the band by Chris Pritchard, guitarist and vocalist.

Mitch says the trio get together in their rehearsal room and bandy ideas about until they come up with The Harlers’ sound.

“We have this innate ability to work off each other, jamming ideas,’’ he said. “The song came together very quickly throwing ideas back and forth.’’

The musicians started performing together in 2015 with Chris and drummer Jamie Warren as a duo. Mitch joined them the following year and they quickly started getting recognition.

They were nominated for Best Rock Act for the Unsigned Music Awards, they were featured in NME as an Emerging Artist in the January edition and released their debut EP called Morning Light.

The band played at The Great Escape in Brighton, which is held on the beach, last year.

Now the band are looking to spread their wings and scoop a management deal.

Mitch said: “We are branching out more and more. We have started to book headline shows in London and are getting regular play on Planet Rock with our last single Heart Of Gold.

“We have various management opportunities in place. Everything is happening very quickly. We will be back in the studio over the next couple of months to record our next EP which is scheduled for release later this year.’’

The Harlers will be performing their garage rock at The Vic in Swindon’s Old Town tomorrow, July 13 at the annual Shuffle festival. The gig begins at 7.30pm and The Harlers will be supported by GETRZ, Monkfish, The Oxymora and Falls On Deaf Ears.
