Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered several stab wounds in a targeted attack in Grange Park.

Officers were called just after midnight when the victim, a local man in his 20s, arrived at Great Western Hospital with multiple stab wounds. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and his condition has been described as stable.

A cordoned off area of grass remained in place from the roundabout at Sudeley Way and Grange Park way stretching down towards B4534 on Sunday morning and a police dog unit was seen leaving the scene.

Det Insp Helen Jacobs, from Swindon CID, said officers, including armed officers, were currently trying to locate a suspect in the Grange Park area of Swindon.

She said: “We are still trying to piece together exactly what happened last night, but at this stage we have a suspect we are trying to find and arrest.

“You may see armed officers throughout the morning, and potentially into this afternoon, but I want to reassure the public that this is a contained incident and we are simply using this resource to find our suspect as quickly and safely as possible.

“I understand that an incident of this nature is alarming for the community, but at this stage we believe it was a targeted attack, between a group of people who are known to each other.

“If anyone has any information then I would urge you to contact police. You can give information anonymously if you prefer, but please pick up the phone and tell us what you know.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Swindon CID on 101. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
