A 10-year-old from Swindon had pop superstars vying to be her mentor after she smashed her audition on The Voice Kids.

Lilia Slattery performed in front of judges Pixie Lott, Will.i.am and Danny from McFly on ITV1 on Saturday with a cover of Jessie J’s song Flashlight.

And her angelic singing sent her storming through to the next round of the competition.

As her nervous family watched backstage, Lilia quickly won over Will.i.am with her voice – he was the first to push his button to turn his chair around – followed shortly by Danny and Pixie towards the end of her performance.

The young star said: “It felt amazing seeing all three judges turn their chairs for me.

"It’s what I have dreamed about.

“I knew if I tried my best and gave it my all then I could hold my head high no matter what the outcome is.”

She added: “It was just magical and a very surreal experience.”

The youngster, who chose Pixie Lott as her mentor for the talent show, added: “I really like her music and she was really friendly and put a smile on my face.

“The feeling I get when I sing is like no other and I just want to make others happy when I sing.”

She hopes that the judge will help guide her as a singer and improve her breathing techniques as well as controlling her nerves.

Lilia started singing at the age of six with Kitty Langan but in the last year has been training at Ronni’s in Old Town.

In the past year, she has been going to classes at the Wilkes Academy.

She was inspired by last series of the ITV programme especially seeing how well fellow Swindonian Lewis Blissett did. He got to the semi-final singing a Pixie Lott song.

Lilia's dad Paddy said: “The whole family are so proud and delighted for her, especially me and her mum Beckie.

“She has always been quietly confident in her talents, she was nervous before she went on stage then the moment she stepped onto it she became a different person.”

Lilia said she was more nervous at her sports day at school than when performing in front of the three musical stars.

She added her younger brother Jake and sister Scarlett are her number one fans, they will follow her wherever she goes.

The next stage for Lilia will be the battle rounds of the competition which will see three young singers all performing at the same time – only one of the singers will make it into the next round.
