DEVELOPERS have lodged revised plans for 13 new homes on what used to be known as Noremarsh Farm in Royal Wootton Bassett.

The application follows the withdrawal of an earlier bid last year to build 21 properties. Agents LPC said in a design and access statement that although the site had permission for commercial use and it had been levelled, work on construction of business units had not started.

“Local commercial agents indicated that the current, and predicted economic climate meant the project was not commercially viable, especially given the high vacancy amongst the existing commercial built stock locally, including in nearby Swindon,” the firm explained. A marketing campaign had been done but the lack of demand meant it was not commercially viable.

So the proposal was to redevelop it for housing and take advantage of the prepared ground at the site off Bincknoll Lane, now called Grove Farm. The plans can be viewed on Wiltshire Council’s website and the consultation expires on August 9.
