A NEW village bike track in Wroughton will be unveiled this Saturday.

The redevelopment of Maunsell Way Recreation Ground has led to BMX Wroughton having an all-weather built pump track – this will be a scaled- down BMX track that’s also designed for racing.

The club will officially host an opening day on Saturday, starting at 2pm. The event will include the official opening ceremony plus various competitions.

BMX Wroughton is a group of local bike enthusaists who set up the club because there wasn’t a similar facility within a 20-mile radius.

The group formed to work with the parish council to build a track in the village.

The group said: “A huge thanks is owed to the parish council who have been supportive throughout, not least by allocating a suitable site within the village.

“We can’t wait to see the community enjoying their new facility, this is something everyone can take pride in.”

They added: “We would like everyone to join us on Saturday, it will be a momentous occasion.”

It will also be suitable for all ages and abilities on all types of bicycles.
