A 10-year-old singing sensation from Swindon is just one performance away from the final of The Voice Kids.

With the ITV programme now in the crucial stages, there is no room for error as Lilia Slattery goes into thesemi-final tonight.

The Tadpole Village schoolgirl, who was backed by superstar David Beckham earlier this week, smashed her battle round, where she competed against two other singers in a performance of the Jackson Five’s ABC.

Judge and mentor Pixie Lott picked her as the winner, making her the first person to make it through to the next stage.  Pixie said: “Lilia is a powerhouse. I wanted Lilia so badly on my team. I’ve won the lottery having her.”

One of the other judges, Danny from the band Mcfly, described the youngster as a “superstar” after her latest performance.

An emotional Lilia was quick to thank Pixie for putting her through.

Fellow Swindon singer Phoebe Maddison narrowly missed out on going further in the competition. She gave afantastic performance, covering This Is Me from The Greatest Showman, but it wasn’t to be her night and she was knocked out of the battle stages.

She said: “I can’t believe I’ve got this far, we’ve all done so well.”

Will.i.am commented: “Phoebe is like a character from a feelgood film that makes people seem magical.”

You can support Lilia by tuning into the ITV show to watch her perform tonight at 8pm as she vies for a spot in Saturday’s final.
