LYDIARD House will have crucial maintenance work carried out to rejuvenate the historical building.
Swindon Borough Council is currently in the process of investing £850,000 into the Grade One listed building, this will include making essential repairs that could give the venue a new lease of life.
The house and annexe offer a tranquil environment for corporate events, training courses and meetings and is an asset to that area.
Improvements to the structure have already begun, starting with the external stonework which was done by specialist stonemasons.
The conference centre and hotel have also been spruced up and a new kitchen has been fitted as well as the whole house being insulated.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Lydiard Park would remain in council control. The council has taken on the onsite accommodation and catering and entertainment venue from the previous operator.
In the coming month, repairs are expected to be made to the windows, the electrics, the plumbing and the building’s exterior.
Coun Keith Williams, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member for Lydiard House and Park, said: “I am pleased to say that the repair work is underway and progressing well.
“This is a major part of the council’s commitment to ensuring this favourite heritage spot is preserved for future generations. There are exciting times ahead for Lydiard and I would urge people not to worry if they see scaffolding or workmen on site over the coming months.”
