Earn our respect

During his Monday morning radio show on Swindon 105.5, 9th July, Des Morgan (regular correspondent to the Swindon Adver letters page) spoke of Donald Trump’s visit to the UK and said that the flying of a baby Trump balloon is an insult to the President of America and no matter what you think of Donald Trump he should be respected.

How can one show respect to a man who has bragged about grabbing the genitals of women and the dropping of the mother of all bombs on Afghanistan killing numerous innocent civilians, uses vile words to describe African countries, shows support for the racist organisation Britain First, separates children from their mothers at the Mexican/American border, endorses torture, continually shows hatred towards Sadiq Khan, the Muslim mayor of London and shows disdain to leaders of our European neighbours?

Donald Trump is a dangerous politician who holds many prejudices and throws insults around like confetti being thrown at a wedding.

To get respect, one has to earn respect. How has Donald Trump earned your respect Des?

The wrong protest

John Stooke says he paraded with the anti-Trump lot with a Palestine flag. Did he carry it over his left shoulder and a rocket over his right, to supplement the average of 80 that they are firing every day into Israel?

If his love of Palestine is so great that he carries that flag and not the UK one, is he going to move there or to his beloved EU?

When the leader of China was given a state welcome, or the leader of Saudi Arabia also, did he protest then at the killings etc in the name of dictatorship and religion that goes on in those countries every day? When Clinton or Obama came to these shores did he protest at the bill that Clinton signed in 2009, that meant that immigrants caught were separated by separate jails or cages? Of course not, you only go for what you think is good.

Of those 100 Palestine people he claims were killed, can he confirm reports that at least 50 were Hamas fighters?

He says the Brexit is a mess, and I would agree with him, because we have a leader who has said many things, but is a Remainer and it is now clear that she never had any intention of taking us out of the EU as was voted for.

The downside to this is that after the next election, the Tories will never hold power for a long time. What did he make of the reports that government officials got Airbus to make the statement about leaving the UK, which they did, and then the government gave a huge aircraft order to Boeing?

As for Nato, all Trump did was to tell the world that they, the US, are not the donors of the world and we should all pay our way, something Germany, France and Italy don’t do.
