A woman was left with an injury to her cheek after an altercation involving a group of men in Penhill on Monday evening.

The incident occurred around 7.30pm on Heddington Close.

The men, some of whom were on bikes, fled the area in the direction of Milston Avenue, then the victim, in her 40s, was taken to the Great Western Hospital for treatment.

Det Sgt Scott Anger said: "This took place in the early evening when it was still light and with this weather many people will have had their windows open.

"There are likely to have been people in the area who saw or heard this assault or the group running and cycling in the area soon afterwards.
