A GRIEVING mum has turned her pain into powerful art.

Jodie Palmer’s son Kobie had a fatal neural tube defect which meant that she had to deliver him when she was only 14 weeks pregnant.

After mourning this terrible loss, the 31-year-old from Pinehurst found a creative way to keep Kobie’s memory alive.

She said: “Rock painting has been a bit of a craze around Swindon and I’m part of this ‘Rocks of Swindon’ facebook page.

“I thought that painting rocks with Kobie’s name and an illustration would be a nice way of remembering him.

“In July, I set up my own group asking people to take the rocks with them on holiday with them and hide them for others to find.

“His older brother and sister loved the idea

“Each rock has a tiny speck of his ashes, so they’re taking him around the world to visit countries he never got the chance to see.

“The response has been huge, I can’t believe where he’s gone, it’s crazy.

“We’ve had over 40 rocks painted and taken abroad so far.

The rocks have been sent to Cuba, Australia, Hong Kong, Portugal and, a bit closer to home, Liden and Royal Wootton Bassett.

The Fuscos took two of the rocks to Disneyland Paris, where Mickey, Pluto and Eeyore were happy to help such a touching cause.

Hannah Fusco said: “Jodie is a family friend, I used to work with her and my sister still does.

“We took the memory rocks with us and we saw some characters in one of the restaurants.

“I explained to Mickey Mouse why I was asking him to hold this rock.

“He put his hand to his mouth, closed his fingers around the rock to hold it tight, then he took it to his heart and blew it a kiss.

“We hid the rock near the Dumbo ride, as it had Dumbo painted on it and a song from the film was played at Kobie’s funeral.

“I went on a ride and when I came back, it had already been found.”
