VOLUNTEERS from Chippenham hope to raise awareness of a local wildlife haven with the installation of a new information board.

The Baydons Meadow Wildlife Group have provided a new eye-catching display at the entrance to the former Blackcross Field, located on the southern bank of the River Avon, across the blue bridge at the end of Monkton Park.

The new information board, funded by the Chippenham Borough Lands Charity, includes a map and a short history of the meadow, together with photographs of some of the species which can be spotted and contact details for people to learn more about volunteering.

Chairman of BMWG Julia Brotherton said: “Our previous information board was looking quite old and faded, so we hope the new replacement will attract more interest. It’s bright and colourful and features lots of details on the group and our various activities throughout the year.”
