Swindon Museum & Art Gallery wants people to send in their photographs of the town for a project to explore what the it looked like during the 60s and 70s.
The museum has a large collection of photography but little work has been done on the collections that depicts the town during the post-war period.
The aim is to show the huge changes Swindon endured in the 50s, 60s and 70s and show the demolition of the old town centre. It will highlight the construction of new buildings, roads, estates, shops and businesses.
Museum curator Sophie Cummings said: “We find these photographs fascinating.
“They depict the town during a period of unprecedented growth and change, but this is a period we don’t currently reflect in our museum.”
The museum will apply for funding to catalogue the collection and share the photographs with the people of Swindon.
There will be drop in events where you can talk to the curator. The first session is at the museum on Friday from 12.30pm.
