THREE people were arrested following a drugs warrant in Chippenham yesterday (Wednesday, August 15).

The warrant took place yesterday evening at the snooker club in Ivy Road, following information from the local community that suspected drug activity was taking place in the area.

Two women, aged 20 and 21, from Chippenham were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs, while a 29-year-old man, also from Chippenham, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.

They were taken to Melksham custody for questioning and have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A number of items were seized during the warrant including drugs and cash.

Acting Inspector Louis McCoy said: “This was a proactive operation co-ordinated by our Community Targeting Team, supported by a number of other officers from around the county.

“We aim to ensure that all licensed premises adhere to their licensing conditions and we will continue to conduct further enquiries in relation to this venue.

"I am pleased with the proactive approach by the CTT and this is a reminder that we will take action where the intelligence leads us.
