PUNK rock band Vice Squad, fronted by Beki Bondage, are playing at Swindon's Victoria pub on Saturday night.

The band delivers short sharp songs with incisive lyrics, spat out punk-style over a thunderous rhythm and machine-gun rock ’n’ roll guitars.

Renowned for their high energy live shows, the band delivers a set with passion and humour. The foursome have been touring and releasing successful albums since the 1980s.

Their latest album Cardboard Country was released on their own Last Rockers label last year.

The album was launched on the back of a very successful fund-raising campaign for homeless charity Shelter, in line with the album title.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Beki Bondage has been featured on the front cover of a number of influential music tabloids such as Melody Maker, NME, Sounds, Record Mirror and Smash Hits.

Vice Squad is one hundred per cent independent and has no record company or management backing. Since reforming in 1997, the band has released several albums with powerful punk songs that have been very well received by fans and press. In keeping with their DIY ethic, the albums were recorded in the front room of Beki’s south London flat.

The band formed in 1978 in Bristol, from two other local punk bands, The Contingent and TV Brakes. Beki (born Rebecca Louise Bond) was a founding member. Their first album, No Cause For Concern, was released in late 1981, and reached number 32 in the UK Album Chart. A second album followed in 1982.

Doors open at 8:30 pm and tickets cost £5. To book, visit thevicswindon.com.
