HALF a dozen police officers restrained a man in front of shocked drivers.

Lee Turner has been charged with threatening violence to enter premises, after a disturbance on a home on Manor Road at around 6pm on Saturday, August 18.

The 30-year-old man was tracked down by police to the forecourt of the Esso petrol station, Kingshill Road, shortly afterwards.

Astonished drivers watched as around six police officers restrained the Manor Road man. At least two police cars and a custody van pulled in to the petrol station forecourt.

Passers-by described the man as topless, shouting that he needed an ambulance.

Turner, of Manor Road, was awarded conditional bail. He will appear before Swindon Magistrates Court on September 12.
