PLANS to build a wind turbine by the M4, near Swindon, have been blown off course after a clash between green energy evangelists and countryside campaigners.
The plan by landowners Matt and Rachael Partridge was to build the turbine near Membury services - but protests from horse trainers, glider pilots, and countryside campaigners saw it turned down by West Berkshire District Council. The company Energy4All, which is working on turbines at Westmill Farm at Watchfield, was to have built the turbines.
It said it was disappointed by the decision.
