TOMORROW night the four finalists in the Swindon Pride Idol contest will line-up at the Pink Rooms in Regent Circus for their chance to perform at the event in August.

Through three heats and two semi finals, the four final acts have been selected to face the judges, including Advertiser's features editor Jaine Blackman and web journalist Stephanie Tye, Swindon Council leader Roderick Bluh, chairman of Swindon Pride Steve Bryce, BBC Radio Swindon's Mark Jones, Brunel FM's Ket Simmons and a representative of gay and lesbian magazine Fyne Times.

Competing for the two spots to perform at the opening of Swindon Pride are Nick Mawby, Camilla J, Steve Maull and Emma Dawkins.

In addition to the prize money of £100 for first and £50 for second place, both winners will get a DVD charting their progress through the competition and the chance to sing at the launch of Swindon Pride on the Old Town Bowl stage in August.

The winner will also get the chance to record their winning song in a recording studio and will be presented with a CD of the session.

Organiser James Waterhouse said: "We have had people from all around Wiltshire, one of the finalists is from Chippenham and we had people from as far away as Salisbury although they didn't make the final."

There will be various fund raising events on the night for Swindon Pride, and it will be compared by the Beautiful Losers double act.

"We have two guys who write their own songs and backings, and one of the girls plays piano and several other instruments and writes her own songs too. The other girl has a fantastic voice but doesn't write her own stuff.

"They are all very talented.
