THE Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has changed its telephone number.
It was the first scheme of its kind to be set up in the UK and its success has prompted the introduction of further Bobby projects around the country. It can now be contacted on (01225) 794 652.
The Trust currently employs three full time operators who work all across Swindon and Wiltshire to provide a free home security service for vulnerable members of the community.
Distraction burglary and domestic violence can have devastating impacts on people's lives, but the Bobby operators are trained to comfort distressed victims and take proactive action to secure the home and reassure clients they are safe.
Referrals are made to the Trust from organisations including Wiltshire Police, Age Concern and Social Services.
As well as replacing locks, issuing personal alarms and installing security devices, they will also provide thorough advice to restore confidence and set a persons mind at rest.
