FOOTBALLER Craig Easton is keen for the town's men to sign up for this year's Keep Your Eye on the Ball 5k run.

The Swindon Town midfielder, 29, claimed second place at last year's event in June.

He is asking men to put their running boots on and get their pulses racing in an effort to raise funds for the Everyman Male Cancer Campaign.

"The run gives lads a chance to get together and do something fun, while at the same time supporting a great cause," said Scotland-born Craig.

"As a close friend of mine has had testicular cancer, it's an issue close to my heart, and while I'm pretty proud of my 19-minute run last year, I'm sure there are plenty of lads out there who could do better."

The Everyman initiative gives male footy fans the opportunity to take part either individually or on behalf of their chosen football club.

The fastest individuals and top fundraisers will each be honoured for their achievements and the winning club will be the one that finishes with the best average running time.

It will take place at 11am, on Sunday, June 1, at London's Victoria Park.

The Keep Your Eye on the Ball 5k run is organised by Everyman in partnership with The FA and The PFA.

All the money raised will go towards funding research into prostate and testicular cancer, which affects almost 37,000 men in the UK every year.

Last year's race saw hundreds of men take part and raise £23,000 in the process.

In line with the football theme of the event, participants were given the opportunity to run on behalf of their chosen football club Winner Merghani Salih, who ran on behalf of Arsenal, won the race in a time of 17mins and 53secs.

Participants can register for the event by calling 0800 7319468, or log on to www.everyman-campaign.org.
