HALF marathon entrants are being encouraged to team up with fellow runners at a town health club to help boost their training.

Club 2000 Energise has launched a new running club, with the October 13-mile event as its main goal for members.

The running club is open to anyone interested in finding running companions, not just those who are taking part in the half marathon or its five or two-mile fun runs.

The Nationwide Swindon Half Marathon is on October 12, and registration has now been open for a month.

The Club 2000 runners meet every Sunday at 10am at the Stratton gym, and participants can follow a range of maps for their chosen run length.

There is an optional registration fee of £10, which includes a water bottle, T-shirt and hat, the remainder of which will be donated to up to four charities chosen by running club members.

An optional weekly fee of £1 per person will also go to the chosen charities, and the total will be matched by Club Energise and Footmates companies.

With five-months to go until the half marathon, now is a good time to sign up to the club, which will help keep runners motivated over the distance.
