Your Walcot meeting a success

Comments (20)MEMBERS of the community packed out the Walcot Dome on Wednesday night to hear about the launch of the Adver's new web project, Your Walcot.
The microsite, within the Adver's own website, will contain news, reviews, opinion and pictures from Walcot, written by the community for the community.
Following a lively and interesting meeting, a number of people signed up for the new site, which will launch next month.
Swindon Advertiser digital media editor Gill Harris said: "It was a thoroughly enjoyable meeting and we were delighted by both the turnout and the positive response we received.
"The first of these microsites to launch was Your Stratton and in April alone, it attracted 3,500 hits, which is great news.
"It means people in the community can use our website to publicise their activities, worries, issues that matter to them - anything really.
"We're sure Your Walcot will be as big a success as Your Stratton has been and can't wait to get going on it."

Is it possible that one day you may realise that on council estates all over the UK there are a great number of hard working decent families who, quite frankly a fed up with people like you looking down their self rightous and opinunated noses at them.

Leave him to it - the world will be rid of his type soon enough! As a hardworking tax-paying individual brought up on council estates, I do actually see what people are like - apparently unlike WTF, who, if they had a modicum of an idea of life in a council estate, would know that they are speaking complete and utter tommyrot.

I don't suppose doug would have any problem whatsoever with people in, say, Broome Manor, being called 'toffs' yet he takes great offence when somebody dares suggest that there are people on council estates who are lazy spongers.
The reality is that there are lazy spongers on council estates, just as I'm sure there are toffs in Broome Manor.
Pretending that one or the other does not exist is very naive.
Still, what would we expect of a person who openly admires Stalin? Quick to attack anyone who dares differ from their opinion and quick to close down free thought and free speech if they possibly can.

I do think that Malkym encapsulates my point.
However Big Mac you are putting words to my post I never wrote. I said across the UK council estates there are many hard working decent families, which in turn means that there are families who are not. If I can see this and you can see this why cant WTF? And as he refuses to see this he is at least narrow minded.
As I can see that the indolent exist in all walks of life I, at least cannot be called naive.
Again I never said I openly or otherwise admired Stalin.

There was an interesting debate and people were keen to get involved and it was an absolute pleasure to go along and meet so many people who really care about their community and want to do all they can to promote it, make it better and communicate with each other.
That is what local newspapers are - or should be - about.
It is disappointing that people have used this story as an opportunity to criticise sections of the community.
The people who have been negative here weren't at this meeting.
I would personally like to thank everyone who came last night.
We will do everything we can to make this web project work for you in the way you want it to... positively.
