Police hunt Stonehenge vandals

THESE are the CCTV images of two men wanted in connection with causing criminal damage at Stonehenge which have been released by police.

At 7.45pm on Thursday, May 15, a security guard at the historic monument disturbed two men causing damage to the stones using a hammer and screwdriver.

The two men then ran off and it is believed they escaped in a vehicle.

It was later discovered that a small amount of damage had been caused to one of the stones.

PC William Marks said: "Damaging this ancient monument is of great concern to us and Wiltshire Police are determined to take strong measures to catch those responsible.

"If anyone recognises the individuals caught on CCTV, or saw two men acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident, I would ask them to get in touch as they could have vital information.

"It may also be that tourists were in the area at the time and if anyone took photographs of the incident, I would be keen to speak to them."

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to call PC Marks on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
