FANS of comedy with a delicate disposition better steer clear of the Wyvern Theatre this evening, when Gina Yashere rolls into town.

She's bringing her Skinny B*tch tour to Swindon tonight, which includes material from her weight loss mission - dropping from a size 18 to a size 12, losing four stone in 10 months.

The most irksome feature of the diet was the twice daily, self-administered colonic irrigation treatments she endured during a week-long detox retreat to Thailand.

But the key to the total loss has been a change of attitude, according to the Londoner of Nigerian descent.

"I have been wanting to get healthier for a long time, and have been yo-yo dieting for years.

"I thought I'm going to America, so this is the last chance to sort myself out'.

"You have to be either hugely fat or really skinny to do well in America, but I'm settling for normal.

"In the first seven days I had to do the colonics to get all the rubbish out of the system which slow up the metabolism. I lost a stone in a week and it changed my eating habits from being a binger to a moderate eater."

She said audiences have gasped at her appearance when she's stepped out on to the stage in venues so far on the tour, and has found plenty of material in her weight loss to boost her repertoire.

"Losing weight did lose material about being chubby, but I certainly don't want it back," said Yashere, who is perhaps best recognised from her stint on Comic Relief Does Fame Academy.

"My character hasn't changed at all. I still think like a fat girl, I can just fit into nicer clothes."

Despite the radical regime to kick start her diet, Yashere has not stopped eating all food luxuries.

"I'd eat a huge tub of ice cream and it would never be enough.

"I have always known that was my weight problem - it would be a case of dieting and eating no rubbish and then a binge, then being in denial and then binging for the rest of the month before trying another diet.

"Being on tour I have eaten rubbish again, but not in those huge doses so I'm not piling on the weight like I would have done.

"Now I don't diet, I eat in moderation and I still like chocolate and ice cream - I just don't eat whole tubs any more."

In a bid to help her system keep up with the new way of life, Yashere plans to visit the Thai detox clinic once a year, which in addition to the colonic treatments, includes a liquid diet with juices and drinks to flush the liver and the rest of the body.

"You're so full of juices, but no solids, that you're not hungry at all, but you are peeing all day and night.

"It's not really the restful week you think it will be, but you are doing something positive for the body every hour - whether it's supplements or a colonic."

The blurb about tonight's show claims audiences can expect "tips on self-imposed starvation, how to make a hearty meal for four using an oxo cube, a dash of balsamic and some grass cuttings, plus a live on-stage experiment to establish which incontinence pants can withstand the sixteen litres of water skinny b*tches need to drink daily in order to survive."

Gina Yashere is appearing at the Wyvern Theatre tonight, tickets cost £15, plus 50p booking fee. To book call 01793 524481.
