PROJECTS in Cricklade and Ashton Keynes have enjoyed cash boosts from North Wilts District Council.

Coun Chris Wannell (Con, Wootton Bassett South), said: “Cricklade Jenner Hall wanted new furniture for the hall, because with ever increasing legislation, health and safety, they all have to replace all of their furniture.

“Halls are very important in small villages, in hubs of communities, despite the ever increasing weight of legislation from central government.”

Ashton Keynes Parish Council was awarded £780 towards the printing of a footpaths guide.

“They want to help people keep fit, and help them understand and enjoy the countryside,’’ said Coun Wannell.

“More and more people moving out of large towns and going into the countryside, so it’s money well spent.

“At Cricklade Leisure Centre, where they were awarded £2,485, the community have formed their own group to run the centre and are very successfully doing so.

“They want to improve the approach to the leisure centre to make it more appealing. We are in favour of that.”
