THE Swindon Multiple Sclerosis Centre says runners competing for them in this year’s half marathon will raise vital funds for their Moving Soon Appeal.
Places are still available for anyone wanting to compete on October 12 on behalf of the charity, which is based at Cheney Manor.
The centre is urging people to contact them and fundraise to enable them to buy new premises.
Their current building is old, difficult to access and too small to accommodate all the members.
They hope to generate more than £500,000 for a purpose-designed building. So far they have amassed £360,000.
“Any person wanting to run for us should get in touch as soon as possible,” said centre manager Jackie Wray. “The more runners we can get the better.
“If we could raise £2,000 or £3,000 that would be fantastic.
“It’s extremely important we can move the appeal on.
“The money we raise from the marathon will make a huge difference towards the total.”
MS is an incurable and unpredictable disease affecting the central nervous system.
The Swindon MS Therapy Centre provides a vital range of therapies, care and support for people with MS in Swindon and in the surrounding community within a 35-mile radius.
It enables people living with MS to have the ability to manage their disease rather than letting it take control of their lives, while keeping them as mobile and independent for as long as possible.
For more information about the marathon, visit www.msswindon.org.uk, also email stcswindon@aol.com or ring the centre 01793 481700.
Forms for the marathon can be collected from the centre at Unit 71A, BSS House, in Cheney Manor Industrial Estate.
