MP helps with clean-up

LABOUR politicians rolled up their sleeves, as they cleared the streets of litter.

South Swindon MP Anne Snelgrove and Central Ward councillors Derique Montaut, Bob Wright and Junab Ali spent hours on Saturday clearing rubbish near Westcott Place.

Mrs Snelgrove said: “The problem is that litter attracts more litter.

“We want to make sure the canal walk is free from litter and we think it is part of our civic duty.

“We want to set an example and help keep Swindon a lovely place to live.”

Coun Montaut said: “We want to make the public aware that communities need to work together to keep areas clean.

“The cost of cleaning waste is high and there needs to be a cycle of change to keep areas clean.”

Coun Wright added: “We can all do a small part to help put things right. It is as simple as that.”

How pathetic is that picture?

I don't want these imbeciles clearing rubbish I want them dealing with real issues that are going to enhance our town.

Clearing a crisp packet is not how it's done. Jeeesus H Christ.

Quite ironic though, Labour actually undoing what they've created. The rubbish is there in the first place because they've created a nation who disrespects.

Want to know why Wills wasn't there? (He can't cope with dirt! He can't even open his own post - bless!)

Have to agree there. Looks like plenty of rubbish has been atrracted to you in the pic Annie.

Wot, no comment from Councillor Ali? Surprised he managed to even find the Centre of Swindon, 'cause he seems to spend as much time here and do as much work in his Ward as his predecessor Sinead 'i'll spend my last year as a Central councillor actually working in St. Phillips', Darker.

Perhaps the Adver could tell us how long after the photo shoot Mrs Snelgrove actually stayed to help. Or perhaps she was supervising.

By the way shouldn't the gloves be green.

Good point about how long Snellgrove stayed after the shoot.

Can we access this information under the FOI Act?

Those marigolds have latex in! I believe the Swindon PCT/Swindon Borough Council partnership have banned ALL latex products! Disciplinary for Snellgrove.

P3 NAS Mark II, so what do they use then.

Poor old Labour, I'm actually starting to feel a bit sorry for them.

Even when they try and do something decent it all goes wrong for them.

Maybe people are a bit tired of these daft PR opps that they milk at every turn?

BM why feel sorry a bunch of incompetents only this weekend have heard that HMG intend to allow Sharia Law Courts, something that will deeply divide ethnically diverse communities. We have also heard that local residents are to be given the right to investigate the backgrounds of those who the 'person' believes may be a threat to children. This will lead to the type of scenes we have seen on the south coast when perfectly innocent people have been branded perverts because of miss-information. Even Barnardo's have stated this would create an underground culture putting children further at risk.

So don't feel sorry for them. They need to be out before this country is plunged in complete chaos, we have financial chaos, the last thing we need is social chaos.

Unfortunately, we already have social chaos:

Mind you, what did people really expect after 11 years of Labour?

Um, gloves without latex lol.

Plasters often contain latex too and certain dressing packs.

This is Swindon PCT/SBC though and not all across the NHS before anyone goes complaining next time they have blood taken and are given a spot plaster!

Anne Snailgroove looks a bit like a dog in Labour. I see she has ot the rest of the litter with her.

Aside from perhaps the obvious (not easily recycled) what is wrong with latex. Is this another health scare type thing.

' arrive at nursery school unable hardly to speak or relate to other children without resorting to violence.'
Iain Duncan Smith

BM, is it any wonder when many homes are platforms for such violence. There are many parents who fail to even acknowledge that their aggression towards each other, if heard or witness by their children, will be seen as the 'norm'. The first 3 years of a child's life is said by experts to mould that child's future. Sadly in too many cases the future is certainly not 'bright'.

Is this the same B"Anne"d Wagon Snelgrove who whinged and bleated on about opportunistic political stunts when a group of Tory councillors attempted to clean up Eldene?
My God!! How low will this woman go in her vain attempt to retain her seat?!

she's so desperate to hang on as the labour party's rep in south swindon that she'll jump on any bandwagon.

He told the court that in February Griffin was convicted of ‘purse dipping’ theft and asked for 20 other offences to be taken into account.

She was back in court in May, again for theft, and at that time asked for five further offences to be taken into consideration.

He said she worked by entering a shop and striking up a conversation with a pensioner or young mum with an easily viewable purse or bag.

She would then wait for the victim to be distracted and would swipe their purse.

Bob, this story from today's Adver shows they're not even jailing people like this - they just give them pointless ASBOs.

27 counts of stealing vulnerable people's purses from them in broad daylight and still she avoids jail.

This isn't punishment, it's encouragement.
