BEAVERS reinvented the wheel and won a competition when they designed their own cars.

Innovative entries from the First Rodbourne Cheney Beaver Scouts so impressed the Hot Wheels toy company, which ran the event, that the company came to visit.

In recognition of their creations, Hot Wheels demonstrated speeding cars in action around tracks at the beaver’s scout hut.

“The children thought it was fantastic and got goodie bags,” said beaver scout leader Joan Sims.

“We think it is marvellous that they won. We just sent off their entries and never thought about it – it was more about them doing an activity.

“We are so pleased with them.”

Twenty beavers entered the competition in August.

The group always welcomes new beavers or leaders. If you would like to join or volunteer call 01793 727395.

Well done beavers, good work!

Not so good work from the Adver photographer here, looks like the poor lad is petrified and the photo was taken on a camera phone! Good photography sells newspapers, so get your act together.
