LAST week we published the first edition of the Student Adver. Pupils from across Swindon saw their work in print for the first time and we will be putting stories that appear on the website in the paper on a regular basis.

The idea to create a platform for students to have their work published was hatched earlier this year, and in September the website, www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sa went live.

We want to encourage youngsters of all ages to write about their community and the issues that affect them.

And it’s proving popular with schools as you can see by the stories appearing on the website.

One of the pieces on there is by Peatmoor Primary School pupil Ben Spackman, who has written about his class trip to Plas Pencelli. He won a prize for the story here:

PLAS Pencelli is a large outdoor centre located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales.

They offer a large range of outdoor activities for children.

The centre specialises in providing tailor-made outdoor courses for schools and other groups, such as colleges and youth centres.

Established for over 40 years, the centre offers top quality programmes that are highly respected with education and the outdoor activity sectors.

On Monday, October 6, 33 children from Peatmoor Primary School, in Swindon, boarded a coach for an exciting five day experience.

The children went to Plas Pencelli and during their time there, had the opportunity to go climbing, caving, canoeing and even orienteering and still had time for loads more wicked things.

We interviewed a few people to see how they felt about their five days away.

Tom S. thought it was really exciting and a great time, Ella G. found the whole week tiring but at the same time she also found it a lot of amazing fun and Lewis S. thought the whole week was fantastic and he’d love to do it again.

Well done to Ben and everyone who has had work published on the site.

Keep your eyes peeled to see if your work makes it in to the next edition of the Student Adver – which we are printing in the paper on Thursday, December 4. Don’t miss it!
