SWINDON’S very own Bridget Jones is tying the knot.

GWR FM breakfast host and Adver columnist Roo Green said she was delighted by Damian Pegutter’s proposal in the early hours of Christmas Day.

It followed a midnight mass service in the village in which Roo grew up, Fownhope, Herefordshire.

The couple, both 35, are now planning to have their big day by the end of this year.

“He went down on one knee by the Christmas tree in church and I said yes straight away,” said Roo, who lives in Old Town.

“I’m still in shock. My friends call me Bridget after sad singleton Bridget Jones, so they thought it was about time I got married. “I’ve had a bad run of guys and been single for a year before meeting Damian.

“He is very funny, kind, generous and romantic – he has the overall package.”

Roo signed up to mysinglefriend.com at the end of 2007 and instantly clicked online with Redhouse resident Damian, an accounts manager for a promotions and marketing firm in Pewsey.

They met up two weeks later for a coffee in Starbucks and the rest, they say, is history.

The broadcaster said her co-host Jez Clark was more excited about the news than most of her other friends.

“He’s my radio husband,” she said. “Jez was so excited he ran round the studio after I surprised him on air with the news.”
