LILY Allen, Kasabian and Franz Ferdinand will be among the headline acts at the Big Weekend music festival, which is taking place at Swindon's Lydiard Park next month.
Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe joined Chris Moyles on his breakfast show this morning to announce the line-up for the event on May 9 and 10.
On the main stage on Saturday, acts include: Snow Patrol, Kasabian, Dizzee Rascal, The Script, Calvin Harris, The Wombats, Daniel Merriweather and The Saturdays.
On the Sunday, Lily Allen will perform, as will Franz Ferdinand, Akon, Scouting For Girls, Alesha Dixon, N-Dubz and Ne-Yo.
On the In New Music We Trust Stage, fans who gets tickets for the Saturday will be able to see Basement Jaxx, Doves, Jack Penate, Friendly Fires, Deadmau5, Florence & The Machine, The King Blues and Fightstar.
The next day the stage will see the likes of The Enemy, Maximo Park, Gossip, Enter Shikari, Tinchy Stryder, Chase & Status, Ladyhawke and White Lies.
Jason Carter, Radio 1 Live Music & Events editor, said: “With four stages packed with the best UK and international talent, along with new and emerging artists it promises to be a weekend to remember."
Swindon councillor Phil Young said: “What a great line up and there is no doubt that this is the biggest thing to happen in Swindon for years. I am very proud to be hosting such a high profile event and we all now have the chance to show the world what a great place Swindon is.”
To be in with a chance of getting a pair of tickets, you need to register on the Radio 1 website.
Registration opens at 8.15am tomorrow and runs until 10am next Monday.
There are 40,000 tickets available across the weekend. Tickets are free, but last year more than half a million people applied for them and demand is expected to be huge again this year. Each lucky applicant will receive a pair of tickets for either Saturday or Sunday.
The station has warned fans the only way of getting tickets is to register online and not to attempt to buy tickets second-hand through other websites.
Ebay will remove all auctions for Big Weekend tickets.
The BBC uses complicated technology to make sure the distribution of tickets is fair, meaning that only one pair of tickets will be given to each household.
Tickets will be allocated randomly, but weighted in favour of those living in Swindon and the surrounding area, with a smaller amount distributed nationally.
You can register for tickets at anytime before the closing date – it won’t make any difference if you fill out the form within the first five minutes of it opening or 30 minutes before the deadline on Monday.
If you don’t have access to a computer at home, don’t forget you can access the internet at the Central Library and others across the town.
Log on to www.seetickets.com/BBC/BigWeekend/ to register.
Keep an eye on our website throughout the day as more acts are due to be announced...

Did anyone actually listen to the show this morning?? I'm certain that Chris Moyles said that Scott Mills was going to announce more acts on his show this evening. There will be a headline act - just wait and see!

Why do I have the horrible feeling that a certain type of person will apply for tickets for this, be lucky enough to get them and then either not attend at all or simply whinge about it all day long and for weeks afterwards? Don't like the idea of the Big Weekend? Fine, please don't apply for tickets. Don't like bands or think they're 'too small' for you? Fine, please don't apply for tickets. Don't like the fact that, just like other comparable festivals, you're not allowed to take your manky sandwiches and vodka and Coke in a 2 litre bottle in with you? Fine, please don't apply for tickets. The way some people are talking, you'd be forgiven for thinking they were being forced to attend. And thank God Madonna isn't there this year, who wants to watch a clapped out old has-been. And as for costs, yes, it will cost the Council c.£200,000 to host and stage the event - but the additional revenue the event will bring to the town is (rather conservatively IMO) estimated at c.£1.5m which, as investments go, will probably turn out to be one of the best any Swindon Council has ever made.

Mick12 and Even Angrier Monkey - I hope you both don't get tickets so you can feel the disappointment I feel with the line-up. Big deal if they won a 'Brit Award' - So did 'The Darkness' - says it all really.

Like all big festivals, you cannot have people bring in whatever food and drink they like as some people would abuse it and bring in cases of lager, cheap spirits etc. and try to sell them inside the festival. Don't people realise that at events such as this the organisers have to keep full control over what food and alcohol is consumed at the venue? What it somebody sold you a dodgy sandwich and you got food poisoning? You'd seen blame the organisers for letting people take food in. What if you bought a bottle of wine from somebody and found they switched the labels or half filled it with water? You'd soon complain about the organisers letting people take alcohol in. The reasons why you are not allowed to take anything you want into the festival are very obvious and actually make perfect sense. Who the hell wants to take a picnic to such an event in any case? It's an all-day live music festival, not a day out for train spotters. And remember, it's only two ticket per household, so it's hardly as if you'll be needing to feed the whole family on the cheap.
