PUPILS from Kingsdown and Wootton Bassett schools are being given the opportunity to visit the University Of Bath’s department of physics Talented young scientists from years 9 and 10 will spend the physics extension day on Tuesday, June 16, investigating Newton’s laws of motion by competing to build working water rockets, before launching them to see which travels the furthest.
The day offers gifted students opportunities that are not widely available within the school curriculum, and is organised by the university’s outreach team.
Liz Andrews, Aimhigher and outreach events co-ordinator at the university, said: “It’s a great opportunity for young people to try something new and get extra inspiration for their studies. It’s a challenging day but it should also be a lot of fun.”
