May I ask who runs Swindon, is it the RDA, the RA (shortly to have name change to convince all that Brown is honouring his pledge to get rid of Regional Assemblies), the NSC or could it be SBC.

Why should the public have to pay to hear about Swindon's future

Could this be the local aspect of Global Governance I have been hearing about. By charging most people won't attend, so the 'elite' are left to discuss out futures.

Answers on a post card please.

Global Warming or Global Governance the video no one talks about.

Save yourself 4 quid - Swindon in 2030 will be the same as in 2009 - crap and failing miserably to reflect the will of Swindonians or service their needs.
Who needs a crystal ball for that???

2030! thats only 1 generation away LOL
so If I understand it well, the future environement of our children is being decided now by a generation that was brought up in the 60s and 70s.
I do not know what you think but I am not overly confident on the final product
here are some suggestions:
Music/Art venue
Ski Dome
Tramway system linked to
regular and cheap park and drive
de-concretesation of the town, more open spaces, eco friendly buildings
Quality shops, enough discounters
A University at last!
Redelop coate water into a family and sport park (tennis courts, picnic tables etc....)
Move all the bail hostels, asylums seekers etc... to the periphery of the town
Any more ideas?

All these different groups that profess to be planning swindons future--sad part is nothing of any consequence seems to be happening other than talk and hotels and how much the council can screw out of us by fair means or foul. It does not seem to matter which party is in control as they are full of promises and unable to deliver--despite more and more committees being set up just it seems to boost councillors pockets. Partners that take much and return little--or shabby services. Feasibility studies that tell us what we already know--selling land for housing that never gets built to house more people for jobs that do not exist. The Council will not promote good venues--yet there are many places that with some investment can be turned into worthwhile ventures. The land around coate park would suit something like alton towers/thorpe park--a zoo even and the infrastructure is already there and easy motorway access--the lakes for boating and much more. Swindon has great potential--we lack a progressive council who puts the people first. Look around you and our roads most of which are seriously in disrepair--potholes everywhere-despite the funding from parking fines which set out in law to be used for roads maintenance--then modified to be used for other purposes--we should look at those figures to see how that has been wasted.

Swindon in 2030 will be even worse than it is now, a dead end town with a rundown and semi closed town centre surrounded by even more derilict plots, a few new hotels, no new facilities for the sad inhabitants who will live in the ever growing hinterland of legoland estates, poorly served by public transport. The only change will be that the mechanics and the Corn exchange will have fallen down by then, and there will be even more quangos promising a bouyant, visionary and vibrant future LoL.

I so totally agree with you, this council and the mentally challenged seating at the board have absolutely no idea how to manage a town
I think it is maybe time that some citizens gather together/fund a separate urban study with the help of qualified planners and architects in order to put to shame the very very useless vision of this council.
Would there be anyone out there that would like to be involved in such an initiative?
