A WOMAN who shoplifted from a Swindon supermarket was given a conditional discharge.
Anita Harris, 39, of Beatrice Street, Gorse Hill, stole £16.50 of food from Tesco in The Parade in the town centre on December 27 last year.
Harris pleaded guilty to one charge of theft at Swindon Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Michaela Rose, defending, said Harris had gone into the store with an accomplice.
CCTV captured the accomplice taking the items while Harris turned her back.
Ms Rose said Harris did not shield her friend, but knew what she was up to.
Harris was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £35 in prosecution costs.
Her accomplice received the same order in a separate hearing.
