A PRIMARY school was flattened yesterday to make way for its state-of-the art replacement.
Freshbrook Primary School was destroyed in order to make way for Millbrook Primary School.
Millbrook pupils will study in a new building at the former Freshbrook Primary School site in Worsley Road.
The new school will also take pupils from the now defunct Windmill Hill School in Uxbridge Road.
Millbrook school governor and Freshbrook councillor Mick Bray said: “It will be a state-of the art building with underfloor heating and computer-controlled windows.
“About four years ago it was decided there were too many free school places in the area.
“The decision was taken to demolish both Schools">Schools">Schools">Schools">schools and accommodate children in a new school.
“There used to be rivalry between the two schools but now that is gone.”
