ST JOSEPH'S Catholic College is celebrating a 98 per cent pass rate in its A-levels this year.

Fifty-seven students headed to the school, in Ocotal Way, to collect their results.

Alice Tilley, from Chiseldon, was celebrating her 18th birthday and was delighted to get two Bs and a C, the results she needed to study equine business management at Hartpury College in Gloucester.

She said: "I've been riding horses since I was a baby. I was absolutely dreading coming in today on my birthday. Thank God I got the results, otherwise my birthday would have been ruined!"

When a prime Minister gets 98% of the vote, we should question the results!
so why is it that we accept a 98% pass rate?

I feel sorry for the student who didn't pass. If 57 students equals 98%, then only one student failed.
Also the other important thing to look at is the subjects taken, not just how many passed. I bet there weren't a lot of students taking maths and science, I bet it was all media studies.

Yeah you would've definitely lost your bet. Only 1 student did media studies in the whole year group, and the amount of people that took maths, and especially sciences, was huge. So instead of criticising people for doing media studies, get your facts right.

Also,I don't think 98% pass is anything special. All a 'pass' is, is an E and above, so I accept the fact that it sounds alot better than it actually is. What I do not like however, is the criticism that you've dished out to people who have actually done well.

It is not your fault that your curriculum was designed by and for Monkeys.
The way Labour has handled this generation is just short of propaganda.
In few years time, after University and after few years in your working life, you will look back at what you have been learning at school and realise what utter rubbish it was.
I am glad that you are happy with your results, I would be happier if your formative years had been used to learn valuable skills to prepare you for the very tough world that is awaiting you.
All the best of Luck to you.

I actually feel sorry for students when A-Level results day comeas around.

People wonder why kids leave school and bum about now, maybe it has something to do with the people who seem to have the opinion they're are stupid and that its all easy.

i would love to see the people who criticise the system take on the work load i had to 3/4 years ago at A-level. It certainly was not easy holding down a job, and 20 hours in college pluss extra work to do outside of this.

Its really dissapointing to hear people say things like this and quite upsetting its like telling people there not quite good enough, or that they'll never succeed.

how about som recognition, well done guys good work :)
