Super sunshine leads Lainesmead Primary school to a great day!

On the 25th of September Lainesmead Primary School on South View Avenue celebrated the national European language day, by achieving a great French day followed by a brilliant European language song contest.

They wore some glorious French costumes such as neckerchiefs, fake moustaches and stripy tops, but some children reflected the colours of the countries flag they had been learning about the previous week and wore clothes of that colour. They also had a yummy French breakfast, which was croissants and jam with hot chocolate and tea which parents were invited to.

Abbiegail Wolf, five, said: “I felt so excited when I got to school and I liked when the Eurovision song contest began because everyone sang their songs so well!”

Then they went to their usual classes and learnt some French language and also learnt lots of things about French food! They were very lucky and got to taste some of it!

But not only did they got to have a French lunch too with year six pupils serving them like waiters! The French lunch was chicken chasseur with French beans and chips - YUM! For dessert there was apple pie and cream. Parents were invited to this as well! After lunch the students went to their classes and read books until they finished off the day with a special assembly. Once the assembly started there were clapping and cheers as the judges were introduced. They were head girl, Lauren King, head boy, Callum Rochester, Sue, one of the schools cooks, Mrs Turner, the headteacher and Mr Bailey.

The pupils showed great sportsmanship by applauding each when they were going on stage so a great big thank you to everybody who took part and good luck for any further events that are planned to be happening at Lainesmead School.
