A Diana Dors lookalike who describes the Swindon blonde bombshell as her “idol” loves the town so much she wants to live here.

Naomi Polley, from Sunderland, greeted Swindonians as she stopped to pose for pictures in the town centre on New Year’s Eve.

It was the 21-year-old’s third visit to Swindon, having been to the film star’s statue at Cineworld in Shaw Ridge, and been crowned the Diana Dors lookalike champion at a family fun day in Queen’s Park earlier this year.

Now she is looking to buy a house and set up home permanently in Wiltshire.

“I really love it here,” said Naomi, who has been a lookalike for more than two years.

“People are really friendly and I’m looking to move to Swindon soon.

“I get mistaken for Diana by a lot of people, while others stop and stare.

“I don’t mind. I’m honoured to be compared to her.”

The original British sex symbol was born Diana Mary Fluck in Swindon on October 23, 1931. In her day she was considered the English equivalent of the blonde bombshells of Hollywood.

She appeared in films including Yield to the Night, The Amazing Mr Blunden, The Unholy Wife, and Timon of Athens.

Naomi has also visited Diana's grave in Sunningdale, Berkshire, near where she lived, and left white pearls and flowers at the tree by her place of rest. Diana, who was married three times, died aged 52 on May 4, 1984. She had three children and four grandchildren.

During Naomi’s visit to Swindon the public were quick to pick up on her remarkable resemblance to Diana.

Muriel Mitchell, 80, from Meadowcroft, said: “She looks very much like her – She’s lovely.”

Trevor, 59 and Sylvia Collins, 56, from Watchfield, were equally impressed.

“I saw her and thought she how much she looked like her,” said Sylvia. Trevor added: “It was a pleasure to meet her.”

Naomi is the UK’s only Diana Dors lookalike.

She appears at corporate and private functions, trade events and promotions.

Naomi will be pictured in number of the same dresses Diana herself once wore. These will be posted on her website in 2010.
