Broadband help is needed

WILTSHIRE Council is asking residents to complete an online survey to establish the real speed of their broadband connection.

Previous research has shown that broadband provision varies across the county and the survey is part of a broader study designed to give the most comprehensive and detailed picture yet of broadband speeds and provision in the towns, villages and rural areas of Wiltshire.

The results will be used on a national level to ensure Wiltshire is well represented in two government projects looking at medium and long-term broadband provision across the country.

John Brady, the council’s cabinet member for economic development, planning and housing said: “Wiltshire covers a large geographic area and it is very important for the economic success of the county that all residents have access to broadband services.

“This is an important piece of research that will be used to secure the digital future of Wiltshire.”

how about telling us where the exchangers are ? then people can make informed decisions!
the further you are from them the lower broadband speed available to you and even more limited by the cabling type (copper or fibre optics)available in your area.....!
I wish the authorities would stop taking us for idiots......

How about giving us a link to the survey then?

Oh, and I'm not actually sure what point politicrat is trying to make in stating the obvious, but if you're not sure what exchange you're on you can find out on "samknows.com". Very useful and interesting site.

Why is it important. to the "economic success of the county". to inform Wiltshire County Council of our broadband speeds?
what is the real reason for this survey?
Could the obsessives at least wait for Bob to start posting, before starting the witch hunt?

If this is a Wiltshire Council survey then one assumes it doesn't apply to Swindon. In any event we have Wifi Mesh so we are covered aren't we.

Brizzy lad
Virgin tell me i get 20 whatever--me--i just switch on and if it works--ok. My business pc has more power and no problems. I dont see why WCC need to know this and why they have money to waste--ah yes but SBC did top up their pension fund at our expense when we became a Unitary Authority.
