A BMX bike belonging to a teenage boy was stolen after he saved up money by delivering thousands of leaflets all over Swindon.

Jack Stinson, 15, of Queens Drive, briefly left the striking white bike outside Subway near the Co-op supermarket in Old Town.

But the £300 bike was snatched along with his 14-year-old pal Will Morris’s grey Kona mountain bike, which is valued at £600.

The Ridgeway School pupil had taken four months to save up for the Arcade We Are The People BMX.

It had a few blue coloured frost flakes attached to his bodywork and is quite distinguishable.

He told the Swindon Advertiser he hand-delivered 4,000 estate agents flyers on behalf of Strakers in the Lawns, Old Town and many other locations in Swindon.

Jack, who only used the bike four times before it was stolen, reported the matter to police just after 7pm on Monday, February 22. Last night, Jack said: “I was devastated and angry it had been taken. I’d been saving up for ages and had delivered loads of leaflets on foot to get the money to buy the bike.

“I’d only had it two-and-a-half weeks and taken it out about four times because of the snow. I just want my bike back now.”

Jack’s dad Jonathan, a floor layer, said: “It was his pride and joy.

“He only left it outside Subway for a few minutes and his and his friend’s bikes were gone.”

Duty inspector Phil Staynings, of Swindon Police, confirmed the theft had been reported to police.

“There were no witnesses, no CCTV and the bikes still haven’t been recovered,” he said. “If someone does know anything about the theft could they please contact us.”

If you have any information that may aid the recovery of either of the bikes, call the Crime Management Unit on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers, where tips can be left anonymously if chosen, on 0800 555 111.
